Superdry and the Responsible Down Standard.

This winter Soul is proud to inform you that one of our favourite brands has taken the step to have all their down product be certified by the Responsible Down Standard (RDS).

Superdry has taken this step in its continued efforts to being a more ethical brand. Already members of the Ethical Trading Code, they have now included Animal Welfare as a part of their company ethos. “Where down is used we require it to be sourced from farms that respect our Animal Welfare policy, which was developed in partnership with animal welfare experts and in accordance with the internationally recognised Five Freedoms of animal welfare.”

What these five freedoms refer to is a guarantee that there has been no live plucking or molt-harvesting on any of the birds, none have been force fed, and they are hollistically cared for during their life. Only RDS down and feathers are given this certification and at each stage it is audited by a third party certification professional.

So it is with confidence that you can wear Superdry’s down knowing that is it strictly adhering to the requirements of the Responsible Down Standard. We think its pretty darn cool of Superdry to be doing this and are proud as punch to be bringing this awesomeness to you.
